Be sure to take all of the proper safety precautions. In this video we will show how to use the minipro TL866CS eeprom programmer. Here we have the box for the eeprom programmer and all of its contents along with two adapters. In the box, you will receive a mini cd, with programming software, a USB cable to connect the programmer to your computer, nine blank eeproms, the programmer, and two adapters. This is how to connect the USB cable to the programmer. The other end here, connect to the USB port on your computer. Start by flipping up the lever, then place your adapter into the slots, on the top of the programmer. Be sure to align pin 1 as shown in the diagram on the programmer. Once the adapter is in place push the lever down to securely lock it. Push down on the top of the adapter to open the pin terminals. Correctly align pin one on the eeprom according to the diagram on the programmer. Once the eeprom is aligned, use the tweezers to push down on the top of the eeprom to hold it in place, and then release the top of the adapter to create the best connection. Open the programming software. Choose the device to program to. Load the file to be programmed. Click on the programming button. Click Program. Programming should begin immediately. If you receive this error, go back and reseat the eeprom in the adapter and then try again. If you receive the error 5 times, it means there could be something wrong with the actual eeprom, and you should try a different eeprom. The yellow light on the programmer, will light up when programming. Programming time can vary depending on the file size. You may also receive an error halfway through the programming. At that point, that means there is something wrong with the chip and you should try a different eeprom. Next, we will show how to read data from the eeprom, and save it to burn to a new chip. If the chip is damaged or corrupt, you will not be able to read the original data. Select the device you are reading from. Click the Read from Chip button. Click Read. EEPROM/E2PROM If you look at the board there is a little eight legged chip the position might vary depending on what brand or model of car you have. This is a tutorial for removing the immobilizer which prevent your car from working in case you replace the BSI without programming the E2PROM. I will show you the place of the eeprom and how it looks like, because in the eeprom is al the information for the immobilizer, so switch the eeprom chip with the one from your old ecu or reprogram the one you have in both case it need to be taken out otherwise it cant be programmed. If your vehicle is equipped with an immobilizer system, and you replace your Body computer BSI like my case you must either reprogram the EEPROM to work with your existing keys, or buy new keys set and ECM In this video you will see an easy fix by replacing the new Body computer EEPROM by the old one

In this video I'll go over a combination of programmer software, EEPROM adapter, and programmer printed circuit board (PCB) modifications to allow +5V 93XXX (e.g., 93C66) and +5V 95XXX (e.g., 95040) SOIC8 / SO8 EEPROMs to also be supported by the ubiquitous CH341A USB MinProgrammer (Black Edition), in addition to its usual SO8 24XXX and 25XXX device support, but now in +5V as well (e.g., 24C08). With this support you can use this programmer to change VIN information in most Radio or Body Control Module (BCM) types sold in the USA from the 1990s and early to mid 2000s, as well as to perform odometer mileage correction manually in these same BCMs or an instrument cluster, for example. In order to reliably write some SO8 EEPROM devices encountered in automotive circuits a +5VDC supply and programming voltage, rather than the default +3.3VDC, is required. This particular inexpensive programmer can be easily modified for this automotive module voltage requirement and allow for doubling the number of supported devices in doing so as well (from 2 to 4 EEPROM families) as shown in this video. While not all SO8 EEPROM devices can be written, or even read, in-circuit of automotive module circuit designs many can, and for those that cannot this programmer can still provide a very inexpensive DIY solution for light duty repair projects off circuit as well. These inexpensive programmers lack the over current protection or pin protection of most general purpose programmers, which allows them to be used for in-circuit reading and writing as well as off circuit for many (though not all) automotive modules. *NOTE: In order to read 93Sxxx security devices you will have to explicitly connect pin 7 (PRE) to ground (pull low) rather than leave it floating like I showed for 93CXXX devices.* *CH341A USB to Serial Device Driver* Here is a link to the Microsoft Windows specific USB serial device driver from the actual manufacturer of the CH341A chip that forms the heart of this particular black edition EEPROM programmer: 🤍 *AsProgrammer EEPROM Application Software* The only reliable programmer software I have found to work with this Black Edition CH341A for 93XXX and 95XXX support, as well as retaining the 24XXX and 25XXX series, is a more recent private fork version of the open source AsProgrammer project (which is for Microsoft Windows only). EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) is a type of device that allows you to store small chunks of data and retrieve it later even if the device has been power cycled. A lot of modern microcontrollers contain some built-in EEPROM, but that doesn't mean that you can't add more! Here's a tutorial on how to reprogram your odometer by yourself at home using $10 in electronic components. This was demonstrated on a Honda Accord. Reprogramming an odometer is done to correct the mileage on the instrument cluster after repairing or swapping clusters. While it is not illegal to change your odometer reading, it is illegal to falsify or misrepresent the actual mileage of the vehicle. 2. The odometer display can be easily falsified by swapping clusters to one of a lower mileage. 3. This procedure requires disassembly of the cluster, and de-soldering of SMD components. Use care and caution when dealing with delicate components, and practice first on a spare cluster The mileage on most (Japanese) cars is stored on the instrument cluster itself, and not in the ECU. Therefore the mileage of the original vehicle that the cluster was from will be displayed on the dash. Odometer information is stored on a small EEPROM chip on the circuit board. The chip can be read and written to using a serial programmer. The information is coded in hexi-decimal characters. Odometer correction can be performed using expensive hands on tools, including Honda HDS software. This tutorial demonstrates how you can program the chip directly using nothing but a few resistors, zener diodes and your trusty old computer's serial port. Tools and Parts Required: • Screwdrivers • Soldering iron, solder and a de-soldering pump • Computer with Windows XP and serial port o Wire strippers • Serial programmer - Breadboard - Hookup wire - Female serial port header - 5V from computer power supply - 4.7K ohm resistors - 5V Zener diodes • Serial programming software (PonyProg freeware) • A spare instrument cluster in case you screw up In this case the original cluster read 314K km, and the new cluster read 211K km. The new cluster was then programmed to match the 314K that is on the vehicle. The cluster must be disassembled to access the L56 EEPROM chip. It must then be desoldered from the board to enable writing to the chip. Care must be taken when desoldering SMD components, as mine broke and I had to find a replacement 93C56 chip. Once the chip is connected to the simple serial programmer circuit, it can then be read and written to using PonyProg software. The odometer information is stored in HEX characters, to which an attempt was made to decode. The odometer information is stored in the bottom rows, which were then edited with the new corresponding HEX characters and its checksum, and then written to the chip. Once the chip is soldered to the board it can then be powered on to test the new instrument cluster. The major part of the mileage (thousandths) was decoded, so it matches close enough but not perfectly. An easier option would be to desolder the chip from the old cluster and solder it to the new cluster. Or you can read the info from the old and write it to the new. Just for fun you can program 999,999 and go show some dealerships as a potential trade in. I'm sure they'll be shocked.
